Stories have a way of settling into your mind and heart. The vivid images in stories offer insight and a way to frame life’s experiences. Lorraine Hartin-Gelardi and Karen Pillsworth believe in the power of stories to delight, inspire, educate, and enlighten. They have teamed up with dedicated fellow storytellers Jonathan Heiles, Muriel Horowitz, Mary Platt, and Ron Sopyla to present Peace and Hope: Tales For Our Times, a series of story concerts in the Hudson Valley. The storytellers thoughtfully select stories that they love and believe in. The variety is wonderful and includes personal stories, traditional fairy tales, literary tales, and stories from various faith traditions. The positive images in these stories offer a balance to the oftentimes negative narrative we encounter in our daily lives and show us that, indeed, peace and joy, hope and tolerance, and triumph over adversity are possible. In 2023, Peace and Hope: Tales For Our Times story concerts were held at St. Joseph’s in New Paltz, Old Dutch Church in Kingston, Linwood Spiritual Center in Rhinebeck, St. John the Evangelist Church in Beacon, and The Reher Center in Kingston. In 2024, all the above places have joyfully welcomed us back! In fact, the Reher Center put us on their calendar and then asked us to come!
